In recent downtown revitalization efforts Marshall businessmen did not have the money to build a downtown movie theater to attract the younger generation to stay in Marshall instead of going to Longview Texas to see their movies, so city fathers commissioned a paper mache model of what the theater would look like if Marshall could afford one and displayed it prominently in the window of a downtown gallery. - Picture submitted by Cy Jarvis

The train we kids played in and on in the 70's the old T&P 2-8-0 No. 400 at the city Park across the street from the stinky animal slaughterhouse in Marshall Texas. Kind of weird playground equipment if you ask me with all it's sharp and rusty metal edges but I loved climbing it and pretending I was leaving town.
They cleaned it up removing all the toxic materials recently and moved it to the Marshall Amtrak Train Depot across town but I sure did love climbing all over this thing before I went swimming at the Lion's Club pool at the top of the hill (where the dead pig smells didn't reach).
Oh wait.
