Wilkesville

The minerton area located apx. 5 Miles from the village of Wilkesville was a well known camping ground for native americans during the 1700's. A beautiful native girl who was promised to the son of the chief was picking berries along Raccoon creek which runs through this area.
Unfortunately a storm occurred up stream and she was swept away in the rushing water. You can hear her Call her for her love on full Moon nights as she sings
the song of the whippoorwill and he answers with the Call of the owl.
The best location to hear the lovers calling is on the bridge at minerton
near the catholic cemetery Midnight to 1:00pm . Spring summer fall or Winter their songs fill the air.
